Free Home Insulation

Your Eco Grants specialise in obtaining government grants to improve the energy efficiency of UK homes. We do all the hard work from applying, through to installation.

The Great British Insulation Scheme is a new Government energy efficiency scheme (formerly known as ECO+). It is designed to deliver improvements to the least energy-efficient homes in Great Britain to tackle fuel poverty and help reduce energy bills.

The scheme is aimed at two main groups:

  • Those living in homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating D-G and within council tax bands A-E in Wales. It is estimated that around 80% of Welsh home meet these qualifying criteria.
  • Householders receiving qualifying benefits and living in homes with an EPC rating of D or below. The qualifying benefits include: Income-Based JSA, Income-Related ESA, Income Support, Pension Guarantee Credit, Working Tax Credits, Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Pension Credit Saving Credits, Child Tax Credits.

If you're unsure of your homes EPC rating or your council tax band. You can apply now and we'll check for you. You can also check using the following Government services:

  • https://www.gov.uk/find-energy-certificate (if your home does not have EPC rating then you are likely to still qualify).

The cost of professional insulation for a semi-detached house would be in the region of £930. You could get this for free, while getting these additional benefits:

  1. Reduce your energy bills
  2. Creating a more energy-efficient home
  3. A warmer, more cosy home
  4. Lowering your carbon emissions

In any home that has a loft or roof space, insulation is needed to make sure any heat that is built up in the living area doesn't disappear through inefficient layers of insulation. Most homes will already have some insulation up there, but over time its energy efficiency deteriorates, leaving you paying more in energy bills. The different types of loft insulation used are either mineral wool or sheep's wool, which come in either batts (pre-cut sheets) or rolls. Both materials are highly efficient and effective at preventing heat loss.

Cavity wall insulation fills the air gap between your home’s inner and external walls, reducing the amount of energy travelling through the wall. It aids in the regulation of heat in your house, making it warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Thousands of little polystyrene beads are blasted into the hollow space and connected using a binding agent or PVA adhesive to form a premium insulation system. The binding agent retains the beads in place and prevents them from settling or falling out of the cavity if any structural work is done afterwards.

EPS beads have excellent thermal qualities and are water repellent. The beads are extremely durable as they do not decay or degrade. They do not attract pests, parasites, or insects as they do not have any nutritional value for animal or plant life.
